An Actress's Take on All-Things-Screen

Screen & Stage

Ever feel like you’re stuck in a rut? Like everything’s the same and you can’t get out? Well don’t fear – because it ain’t half as bad as what PHIL CONNORS has to go through.

I saw Groundhog Day; The Musical at The Old Vic last night. My sister and I took my Dad for his birthday. And it was brilliant. Win. I didn’t expect anything less from Tim Minchin – i’ve admired his work since I saw him live in Melbourne. What a superstar.

Today i’ve been thinking about screen to stage and stage to screen. Have you ever seen something that started as a film and is now a successful live show? Or vica versa? Here’s some of my favourite screen to stagers:

Billy Elliot, The Lion King, Matilda, Once, Hairspray, Harry Potter & The Cursed Child (I haven’t seen it yet but I imagine it will be BRILLIANT)

And stage to screen?

Gosssssh, there are too many to name but here are some highlights: Bug, August Osage County, A Streetcar Named Desire, Closer….

What else have you been up to? Watching One of Us? Victoria? (I’m not too convinced about it, myself) Looking forward to new POLDARK??

If you’re up late tonight and after a new one-off drama, Ellen is on Channel 4 at 10pm – heard lots of good stuff about this.

HAPPY 1ST SEPTEMBER! So much to look forward to.
