An Actress's Take on All-Things-Screen

Dance, Women, Dance

I went to meet a casting director this week. We sat down, chatted and concluded that i’m screwed. Because I’m an actress.

For every two roles casting a woman, there are ten roles for a man. OK, not in all cases but it’s very common.

Take Cath Clarke’s article in Time Out. ‘The red carpet is sexist’ she frankly put it. Of course it is. Do men get bombarded for what they wear? Non-stop? Not really…’s quite boring. Don’t get me wrong. I love a good dress, a good look. I think fashion is wonderful. But let’s not get too carried away.

And i’m not here to bash your heads in about girl power. I’m here to draw attention to actress and their abilities. We are just as capable. We are just as good. We are just as important.

Create more opportunities and be equal. That’s all it is.

Let’s have more of this please:
